Default HOW in the WORLD did you name your pug..lol? that is the question.....soooo many neat names

out for a walk with Zeus today and someone said how in the world did you come up with the name Zeus. I said well when I put money down on him to reserve him I told the breeder I was calling him Zeus..........i needed a tough name he was coming to live with 2 bulldogs......lol. I also wanted a regal name so took the name Zeus.

Max came as Max and he had enough going on without changing his name........ although he gets called lots of names now......and not one of them sounds like Max..lol. Max is such a common name for dog that nobody seems surprised at that..

Gus was named of all things from the cartoon with Gus in it. he was such a clown from the moment I met him Gus suits him just fine. I love the name Gus for a bulldog or a pug to be honest.

how did you come up with your names?
there will be other threads like this in the archives...but would be neat to hear them again with so many new members..

I blurted out Penelope when I saw her. I have no idea why. I didn't think of names beforehand.

My husband and I said when we got a pug we were gonna name it FUGLY. Period. When we went to pick her up, I just couldn't do it! She was way too cute and sweet to be called FUGLY. The moment I saw her, I just knew her name was Lola. We call her Lola Falana!
With Ozzy we must have gone thru every name possible and then on a trip to visit him before he was old enough to come home with us, we were driving home and my Hubby just threw the name out and it was like "Yes, that's his name"! So we call him Ozzy Osbourne!

my son actually named Li'l. her official name is Li'l Bit. i got her in Illinois when i went to visit my daughter & grandson. Li'l was only 18 days old when i got her on Valentine's Day - the same day my grandson had surgery to put tubes in his ears (the purpose of the trip up there).

after the 16 hour drive home, i walked in the door, and my son saw how tiny she was (2" high, 2" long). she fit in the palm of my hand (which is pretty small, as i am not even 5ft tall). as soon as he looked at her he said "her name is Little Bit". i changed the Little to Li'l. i call her that all the time. Li'l Bit isn't exactly the name i would've given her. but it fit at the time. LOL

When we decided to get a dog, we did research on different breeds, and had decided that we wanted a pug and a great dane. I was more partial to the pugs, and since I found a breeder that I liked close to us, we went for a visit. When we saw Nano, we fell in love and had to get him. My partner is a computer programmer, and we both agreed on the names Nanobyte and Gigabyte, for the small pug and the large dane. So Nano's real name is Nanobyte, but we only ever call him Nano.

After being 'pugged' we have decided that our second dog will for sure be a pug rescue (if we're lucky enough), and will probably come with his/her own name, which is fine with us :)

Other names we had thought about were:
    Boy- Gil, Shatner, or Matlock.
Girl- Xena, Rainbow Bright, or Tuna.

Tinker was the last pup left and she was 12 weeks, I think the breeder was contemplating keeping her. Her daughter had named her Goldie because she named all the pups with a Disney name.Goldie being short for Goldilocks? I didn't think it fit her face or personality so keeping with the theme I named her Tinker(Tinkerbell).

with my sons bulldog........I bought her for him and so had to come up with a name for her. I talked to my ex one day and I said we need an old fashioned name for Bryan's bulldog. he said call her the same as his mother..lol. her name is Bella too and hence we got Bella... Bella is short for something else that my ex mom is called but Bella sure suits her name..

Rebbie was named Rebel by his previous family. I feel that his name encouraged him to be just that, rebellious. LOL. So I shortened it to Rebbie. I toyed with the idea of changing his name. I also call him Rebelrouser and Rebs. My brother calls him Rebulouse 3000 because of his nonstop energy. :)

Oh, it's dh's fault....he said I got to name the last one, so he got to name this one. He named her Rugby, when I wanted to call her something pretty, like Ming or Penny or something....At first I refused to call her Rugby, but he wouldn't stop, so eventually I had to give in. Guess I'm used to her name by now, but everybody assumes she's a male when they hear her name. It's not even a name, it's a game! Oh, well, Rugby doesn't care....
