Watched a new show today on animal planet its called American stuffers people actually stuff their dogs!! I love my dogs but I don't know if I would take it that far lol but you never know. Anyone ever have a pet stuffed?
OMG no, that's obscene! And it would break my heart every time I looked at it. I love my Pugs with all my heart but I would never have them stuffed or cloned or any thing like that.
No, I couldn't do that either.
Jackie,Mom to Robbie & Stacy my human children and Tinker my furkid.
I watched a marathon of that show last night, it was the first time I'd seen it. I honestly can't say I wouldn't do it, he does a really nice job but I'm not sure all of them would. The show was definitely a tear jerker for me which is why I watched it for 4 straight hours. To each their own, I say.

I couldn't. My sister threatened to have her first pet rat stuffed, though, and to keep it on my parents' mantlepiece. They declined.

I am going to have Bugsy done and posed lifting his leg.
Take care,

It's not for me. I don't even like viewings for humans. I'd prefer to remember my friends, both skin and fur, alive and kicking.

I'm with just about everyone else on this topic. I don't care for taxidermied animals in general. I understand the thinking behind the "trophy" deer head and I get why museums would stuff rare or extinct animals that have died of natural causes. What I really don't understand is the thought process of people who decide to taxidermy their pets.
To each his own of course. A rare animal dies....you stuff it so that others may see what such a rare animal looks like. I get it.
You bring down a majestic animal such as a deer with impressive antlers. I undserstand the "trophy" mentality. I don't like it but I get it.
Your beloved pet dies. You mourn, you come to accept and eventually move on. Having Fido stuffed and displayed on the fireplace mantle seems to me an act of desperation by a person that doesn't know how to cope. It strikes me ultimately as disrespectful of the pet you loved in life. I wouldn't stuff grandma and prop her up in the kitchen next to the stove to remind me of her incredible, fresh baked biscuits.
A very interesting topic to discuss!![]()
