Will my pug ever stop chewing everything? She's ruined my drywall, couch, cushions, electronics etc. I'm doing everything I can as far as training, but she is so orally fixated. Will she ever grow out of this or is this something I'll just have to live with?

She'll grow out of it, just be patient and consistent. Zoey chewed up alot of electronics, glasses, shoes, etc. Now she is happy to chew on her bone.

I don't buy a lot of things, but when I do, I tend to have expensive taste. Many valuable things have been ruined. I hope that one day I will be able to replace those damaged things with nice things again and not have to worry about them being ruined. I can't imagine her ever stopping, but I am hopeful.

Thankfully, Tiny only had an obsession with chewing on old slippers, even ones on our feet, when she was a puppy. Then there was the roll of paper towel if it fell on the ground, hair if we were playing with her - I think I had better stop remembering!! She then progressed to the bromeliads in the garden, easily transplanted to the front yard (the ones that survived!) and now it is her own feet. This drives us crazy but the vet said there isn't any problem, just a bad habit. Perhaps you might have to resort to putting things up out of her reach, like we did when our daughters were young although I realize that this is impossible with a couch etc. People told us we should just train them not to touch, but that is easy to say when it isn't their valuables at stake. I am sure it is a greater problem when the culprit is a mischievous little pug. Have you tried a playpen or just letting her in one or two 'safe' rooms? Good luck.

I've been so lucky. My boy is a chewer but I'm not kidding when I say I must have 50-75 chew bones around the house. Every time I need to distract him I give him new chew bone. Sometime it lasts and sometimes it's a 5 minute distraction. BUT he 9and my girl) do not chew anything other than their chew bones and toys.

Started dragging in my boys sneakers but now my sons know to put their shoes in the closest when they take them off. The one thing I do have to watch is my couches. I have very expensive leather couches and both of them love to scratch the leather. I have a lot of scratch marks and telling them no doesn't always work. I swear, you would think there was gold in them there couches the way they dig. I literally have to pick them up and hold them tight to me to calm them and stop the scratching. It's always distraction tactics here.

Try lots of bones, all different types too just in case they don't like the one you offer at the moment and good luck
May we all be kind and full of love

It must be so sad and frustrating when your beautiful things get ruined. Perhaps you can take some comfort in that most dogs stop chewing things when they reach adulthood.

My only advice is to limit her access to one room, if you haven't already and to remove as much of the chewable stuff as possible. But I know it's hard if the dog chews everything. Also to make sure she always has really good things to chew, such as marrow bones, antlers etc. Anything that keeps her interested. But I'm sure you're doing that already.

They do grow out of it but some more than others. Snifter would not dream of wrecking anything in the house. Toddy, on the other hand, was a holy terror when a pup and I do not trust him 100% now. He is not allowed in our lounge or dining room unattended.

He likes ruining big brown cardboard boxes and I always have one or two in the house that he can wreck when he is so inclined.

Lola is fine but Ozzy is a chewer. We (meaning me) watch him like a hawk. As soon as he walks out of site of me , I am up and looking for him. Also because he can't be trusted to not go and pee or poop on the floor (He's almost 6 months old).
So far, being on his ass (literally) every second, seems to be working. Albeit, not very relaxing, but then that's what you sign up for when you get a puppy, right? I am not distracted with children either, just me and Hubby in the home.
They are always crated when we go out and at night.
We also use baby gates to keep them out of the other rooms. They only have access to the living room and kitchen/dining room (open floor plan).

I have to use the same tactics! For a while my Lola was chewing on wood and the door frame thingie, but that passed...I guess she has to be teething at this point...but for the most part sticks to either my body or her toys when chewing...

Melody - I hope she grows out of it for you, ASAP!

PS - I copied your idea and created a FB page for Lola...
