I believe it's called inline breeding and just like for humans it is not ok with animals. It's breeding between family member,Deformities and such are more common to occur as well as a lot of other problems .
Many breeders use line breeding to reinforce the chances of getting a positive characteristic to come out in a litter, but at the same time it can increase the chances of negative genetic problems appearing, for example if the grandfather and the bitch both carried a recessive gene for something, there would be an increased chance of it coming out than if the bitch had been bred to a non-related dog that did not have the recessive gene. The degree to which a dog is line bred can be calculated somehow. I would inquire of the breeder if this is the only line breeding, or if it has happened more than once in the past few generations. I believe that the more it has happened, the greater the chance of a negative consequence. I am not a breeder and that's all I know, someone with breeding experience will come and answer too, I'm sure.

Line breeding, done with an expert's touch has little to no consequence to the offspring. It is not for the amateur breeder, at all. Fathers/daughters, mothers/sons, aunts, cousins - happens often. Looking at Race Horse pedigrees, it is not uncommon to see the same stallion in a pedigree 4-6 times, in 2-3 generations. My Dad's partner (who is a PhD in Genetics) line bred many of his Champion Toy Poodles.

Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should just relax and get used to the idea.
