Don't know if this is the right place to post, but I'm wrestling with the decision to get a new Pug puppy, or wait. My special Puggie, Pearl died a month ago with liver cancer. The vet was treating her for pneumonia, but after her xray found it to be liver cancer with mets to lungs. She was only 9 yrs. old, and had been a model Pug both behavior and health-wise. I still have Louie, my son's 10 yr. old male, but I'm really missing Pearl and craving another female Pug. I've found a reputable breeder with 3 females in a recent litter, and I'm soooo tempted to pick a Puggie.
Would really appreciate anyone's thoughts on this. Thanks much!!!
Hello &to the village! I'm so sorry for your loss. Nobody knows better than you if you're ready for another pug. Let us know what you decide.

Thanks so much...Losing a Pug is really tough I'm finding. They're so much like little kids! We also have a 7 yr. old Shi Tzu with the 10 yr. old Pug, Louie, so right now we're a 2 dog household. Since I'm not working outside the home, having a 3rd dog isn't much more work....I'll keep pondering this, and, you're right, only I will know when it's time for a new Pug!
I am so sorry about Pearl. I have 4 Pugs and 6 dogs total so I'm no help as far as advice about getting another. Follow your heart and if finances permit I say go for it.
We never touch people so lightly that we don't leave a trace.
Oh, I am so sorry about Pearl! Follow your heart; it sounds like you want another little girl in your family.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. You will know when the time is right to add another; do not listen to people who say it is "too soon". If you think it is the right time, then it is. It is not always easy to find the right pug and if a nice litter is around now, maybe it is meant to be. Good luck with whatever you decide.

sorry for your loss I know how you feel had to put down my six year old pug march 18 I missed her so much I got a black pug now so follow your heart
Many thanks to all for the kind words. I'm still missing Pearl very much, but also still thinking about a new female Pug puppy. I read somewhere to find another breed and sex than the dog that passed. I'm still drawn to Pugs, though. Someone I know mentioned a Pug-zu (Pug/Shih Tzu)....Any thoughts on this?
You won't be replacing Pearl in your heart or your life, just adding another kid to love in a totally new unique relationship. As the other folks have said, you'll know when you're ready, listen to your heart not the opinions of others.

You know....nothing replaces those you lose.....I had two with me that saved me.......but little Miss Callie has really perked me up as she came in 2 months after I lost Kelev!!!!! Even my shrink could see a difference in me!
