Yes, he has a cute face for a fat old guy, doesn't he?

Roly and his companion (probably life-long), a black female Pug called Butterfly, were apparently dumped and wound up our city shelter, which sadly remains a high-kill facility. I am on the facebook feed for the friends of the shelter, and I remember seeing the senior, morbidly-obese pair on there under different names (Roly was listed as "Pugsley"). DFW Pug Rescue pulled the pair before their time was up, but alas, Butterfly died at the vet clinic. Roly was vetted and sent to a foster home. The foster home has a human toddler, and apparently the toddler startled Roly and he snapped at the child. A foster re-assignment was needed. Meanwhile, I retired from the job I hated on March 30, went to Pug Rescue's Pugapalooza on March 31, and volunteered to take a foster. Within days, Roly came to stay here.

Roly has lost weight since that picture. We walk daily. And believe it or not, I am having trouble getting him to eat at all! He is still enormous, and I can't lift him easily. He gets along just fine with Moe and Anya, my resident Pugs. He and the cat aren't too fond of each other. If Roly could move faster, he would probably chase the cat, but that is not possible! Roly appears housebroken, but he came with two extra-large, custom-made belly bands, so I have been crating him at night. I almost sent him back today because he cried in his crate until 2:45 AM.

Having had Roly Poly for a week, it appears he was fed people food from the table and slept on a Sealy Posturepedic with his human at night. How a spoiled brat like this one wound up unclaimed at a city shelter is beyond me!

Here is Nano, weighing in at 27 lbs. He will be 10 months old on April 22nd. He just had his check-up at the vet, and she said he is a great weight for his size :) He's my big boy :) This is him still trying to fit in his baby bed haha. When we first brought him home, he could fit in that bed stretched out!

Joy is heavy for her body type. Weighed in at 25lbs this week despite exercise and me doing the best I can to keep her from over eating. I think she needs a neck resection! (jk)

MuShu is heavier at 29lbs but his body is built differently than Joy and though he is a major CHUNK, he doesn't look fat.

So glad that Roly Poly has a home with you. If he was dumped with his partner at the kill shelter I can only guess what the family did with the owner.
