Spud graduated today from basic training course. My mother also was in the course with her dog and so I asked her to take a picture but failed amazingly at it so sadly no awesome grad photos. I intend on following through with more training but will be taking a short break, however I will be still working with him. This is my first summer in about 8 years that I am in WI and not working night shift and not working like 60 hour weeks. I have no intention of being able to commit to a weekly class.
Also last week she asked us to train a new trick for our dogs and today we would show them off and vote on who had the best one. I thought to myself I have this, pugs are clowns. Spud loves to go on his hind legs to get his treats so why not. I got him to sit and when I tell him to stand he will stand until gets his treat about 10 to 15 seconds. I also taught him to touch my hand, I seen it on an episode of its me or the dog. Anyways I was pretty confidant that Spud would win but almost all the other dogs sadly choked under the pressure so He did win basically hands down.
Jackie,Mom to Robbie & Stacy my human children and Tinker my furkid.
I almost forgot one more thing to brag about. The first test for grad day was the leave it command where treats and toys where spread across the floor and we had to go past everything and tell our dogs to leave it alone and if one picked something up we had to get it out of there mouth so they didn't self reward.
I was one of the last, seeing the others go through it I figured Spud would be able to do it but he was amazing. I simply said leave it each time he looked at an item and we moved on. No repeating, nothing.
Way to go, Spud!
We never touch people so lightly that we don't leave a trace.
