    Default Skinny puppy

My Penelope is seven months old now and she still has a very tall, thin frame. Other pug owners at the pug meetup we go to have commented on it. There is another pug there that has the identical thin frame and height as Penelope, but is one year old. I was hoping she would fill out a bit. Do you think there is a good chance she'll fill out or will she always have a super model figure?

Oohh i'm not sure, i've never actually met a female pug in person! I've just seen photos, and it seems their frames vary quite a bit. I wouldn't mind having a thin little girlie pug though, especially when it comes time to picking up the pugs and carrying them haha! If you ever want some time with a 'filled out' puggie, just let me know, I know Nano would love the playtime :)

If you have seen her parents that should give you a reasonable idea of how "chunky" her line tends to be. Generally pugs fill out in the chest and head between ages 1 and 2 years and generally start to look more solid by age 2. Both of mine in fact chunked out a bit more after age 2 and Toddy filled out in the chest even after age 3.

It's very possible that she'll fill out more as she gets to the 1 1/2 to 2 year age. Wonka has a fairly tall and slim frame and he's always been that way, but he did broaden a bit in the chest around age 2.

Tinker was never a super model! It's a struggle to keep her at a reasonable weight. Being a little on the leaner side is definitely healthier for them but they do fill out as they get older.

I don't want her to be fat, I want her to have the typical broad frame of a pug.

I agree with the others... they continue to fill out for quite a while, Leto just turned 3 and we think he's finally finished.

My 10 yr. old Pug, Louie, has been tall and thin from the get go. I've even tried over feeding him through the years just to fill him out, and he's still lean and lanky. He has always been VERY active, and still is in his old age, so I figure he must be burning off the calories. I feed him a premium grain-free food, and he always gets great check-ups at the vet. He'll probably live to be 25!
