So let me start off saying I haven't had a puppy in the house for almost 13yrs. I have a 12 week old french bulldog that is doing major puppy biting on humans. Bad enough to put puncture marks and break the skin most of the time. He has every chew thing you could think of. I keep a chewy pretty much available on me at all times so when he starts to bite I put the chew in his mouth. He only gets really bad when he is in his "crazed" mode other than that he is very snuggly and is a total love. I've tried saying no bite and putting the chew in his mouth. I've tried putting him behind the baby gate and ignoring him for 10 minutes. Nothing seems to be working........ugh!!!!!![]()
Frenchies have a totally different personality and attitude compared with pugs. I would ask someone with bulldog experience, as they are far more mouthy and tenacious than pugs.

I was waiting for your answer Lisa.
Lisa,
I can't seem to find a "active" frenchie forum. :-(
I'd also love to hear any responses you get, as my little guy is quite the biter as well (also only when he's in his "crazy" mode). Saying "no" very firmly and offering him something else to chew on is working just a little too slowly for my liking...
My hands, arms and fingers are shredded.![]()
LOL....I have a couple contacts in Frenchie rescue down here, if you like i can provide you their emails.
Take care,
Lisa

I'm having the same problem with my Penelope. She doesn't bite hard, though.

My dog Nino was not much of a biter but still had seem to have the puppy bites. One evening when i was tired of getting nipped on the arm i applied "Apple bitter" to my arms and hands. It only took one time and he stopped. Normally used for stopping them from chewing on furiture..or anything really, even people. :) im not saying that is the answer but it is a option to look at if its getting bad. Like all dogs.. after doing it several times they understand. Good Luck
Have you tried putting pennies in an empty soda can, and then shaking it with a firm "no!" when they start biting? That worked wonders on our very mouthy Am Staff puppy. She got the hint within a few shakes... when our APBT was a puppy, we used the can and a squirt bottle (he was a little more stubborn than the staffie). Took him a while, but he quit using us as a teething toy.
Also, if the frenchie is teething, try tying a knot in an old washcloth, wetting it and then putting it in the freezer. That seemed to help the most with all our dogs (and our skin kid) when the teething pain was off the hook.
BTW... we need pictures of the shark-dog...![]()
