Smu here: this land living is so noisy there are trucks with red lights flashing that are screaming when they go by the house, my mom yells at the deer that come by to munch on her flowers, the neighbor has a machine that is screaming as it saws through the lumber for his new garage, at night there are some cats that yell and scream as they sit on top of our fence, gramps is not hearing so good these days so everyone has to yell at him so he can hear what you are saying, mom says that one is my fault, oh yea there are some teenagers down the road who insist on seeing who can squeal there tires for the longest time, and one of the neighbors trucks has the squeakest brakes, I am going back to bed and pulling the blankets over my heard to shut out all the nose and dream of the quite solitude of the boat..

Smu, Smidgen here. I find crashing through table lamps a sound recreational exercise. And one noise cancels out the other. In time you will learn to filter out the sounds of saws, teenagers, ear trumpets, and fire engines, and only hear the subtle tones of the refrigerator door as it opens or the soft rustle of cellophane being removed from a slice of cheese or forbidden chocolate (easy enough to snatch and grab for the determined pug.)
