Default Yellow Dog Project/Yellow Ribbon - Please read

I saw this on online today and felt it was good to pass the word on. Could be useful to you or someone you know.

    What Is Yellow Dog?
The Yellow Dog Project was created to bring awareness to the general public about dogs who need space while training, recovering from surgery, or being rehabilitated.

What a great idea. A simple solution for what could evolve into a catastrophe for the owner or others.

I love the idea but no one around here seems to give a hoot if you want to limit the contact your dog has with other dogs, people, children etc. I often find myself telling kids/parents that Pip bites just so I don't have to deal with it despite the fact that she's wagging her little curl and looks happy as a clam.

We used the yellow ribbon technique at Jamboree. Around 80-90 dogs in a large fenced area. Yellow ribbons were given for free at the gate to owners who knew that their dogs needed a bit of space. The Yellow Ribbon poster was posted at the sign in table. It worked really well!

I think it is a very good idea. There was an item on this subject on our local TV Current Affairs programme recently where there were three different coloured ribbons/leads,yellow was one and I think green and red, for different circumstances. Unfortunately, I was doing the dishes at the time and only caught snippets of the information.

The subject of the story was a German Shepherd who was 'misunderstood' by people in parks etc - docile dog thought to be vicious. By wearing the appropriate coloured lead/harness, it made those coming into contact with the dog more aware of their temperment. I will try and find out more information about this. (It as on A Current Affair, Channel 9, for those in Australia.)
