We have friends who live in Slidell--they had just moved in to a condo on Lake P. (not sure how to spell it) and their home was pretty much a total loss...I think they're planning on leaving the area once they've rebuilt and sold their home. It's so sad, even though we get to see the pictures, I don't think anyone who hasn't been there probably has any idea of what it's really like, or how "real" it truly is.

i can attest to the damage myself. we drove thru I-10 to get to the in-laws in panama city, FL. i couldnt believe how bad it was. we had a hard time finding gas in same palces the gas stations were just leveld. we took the pugs with us and i was afraid to let them out to potty in some places so they just had to hold it.
