    Default insursance

Just been looking through some old posts and noticing some vet bills can be outrageous and I would like to get Zeus and insurance plan. I have him on a plan with the vet for now until he is 6 months of age - (3 months time) where all our visits and shots and neutering are paid for but if anything bad happens and he needs and emergency surgery id like to be covered. I found a site for just over $20 a month with $100 deductible which sounds good! any ideas?

    Default vpi or petplan

After reading reviews I have narrowed it down to these 2! I have a puppy - 3 months of age. Has had nothing major so far so guessing that means no pre existing conditions so I want to get him set up now - which one is recommended???

I think there is a mix here at PV between these 2. We currently have PetPlan, but we just switched from VPI.

What I like about PetPlan is that there are fewer coverage limits and breed specific exclusions than there are with VPI.

We had good customer service with both companies, but we have not yet had any major claims.

All I can say is I highly recomend insurance, we spent 4000. in 3 days with Winnie just before she passed. (We did not have any insurance) I would do it all over again in a minute, however Pugs are prone to little health issues so its great you are thinking ahead.

I don't have insurance for mine so I can't recommend one or the other.

However, I would like to say that the plans are reimbursible. Meaning if there is an emergency which could cost hundreds or thousands, you still need to be able to pay that. Working for an em vet, that is the part that most people have a problem with being able to do.

However, some clients that have insurance are more comfortable knowing that a check will be coming soon to cover some of the bill (and therefore they hold off on paying rent or some other bill).

well guess the choice was easy - petplan does not cover in Louisiana until th end of summer so I will be with VPI in the next 2 weeks pending Zeus records getting to them. I have enough money in savings to cover a surgery but would be totally screwed for rent - car insurance etc, so insurance should be good for me as I can put it up as long as I get it back.
