Max says you can call me playful and anything else but when it comes to sleeping. I get on the big bed and I GO right to sleep.
as does Gus the bulldog...lol
then there is Bella who insists that she should play with Zeena on the big bed and Zeus. finally..they decide to settle.......but first
all 3 of them have to wash their feet........everynight..
then lay down and they get up
and then make a nest with the blankets
and then move around to another spot
huge to do for all 3 of them...
by the time the 3 monkeys have settled......Max and Gus have been asleep for over a half an hour already.......soundly.
it is funny to watch 5 dog settle for the night though in the big bed...
during the day they drop and flop and sleep anywhere...usually all together though in a pug pile..
and your pug?
In my house, my bed is for sleep! When pups first come in...they sleep in a cage by the bed...and then when they're ready and I know they can make it through the night...and know that they can settle...I try. It's 3 strikes and your out here!! 2 warnings...then the cage! Usually doesn't take more than 2 nights to learn!
I do allow chewing of bully sticks while I read before going to bed!
There's three spots for my pug guy to sleep in the bedroom. Usually he sleeps in the bed at our feet, on his little blankie. There's also a recliner he likes, and a big soft dog bed he's only used a couple of times. Sometimes, especially if he's too warm, he'll sleep on the floor at my bedside, or in front of the door.
During the day he snoozes at my hubby's feet in his pug bed in the office, on the couch, or even sprawled out on the kitchen floor.
I never had the issue of playing on the bed....until I started to sleep with 5 dogs.. when it was just the bullies....they would settle..but once the pugs joined me then the playing started. actually Bella gets them going.
most nights it is very entertaining to see them play too. but beds are for sleeping gave up trying to read ages ago..lol
Our bedtime routine is hydrating eye drops, then teeth brushing.
Rosie sleeps by my waist while Pudding sleeps draped around my head. Luckily neither one moves around so we have a peaceful night.

As soon as I say lets go to bed I have 2 Puggies racing down the hall to see who gets on the bed first! Then Bear's only concern is making sure that he is the closest to his mama, LOL, as long as he gets to be snuggled up to me then he is a happy boy and ready for dreamland! Rosie on the other hand usually has to spend a few minutes harrassing Bear and just making a pain of herself LOL and then she will settle down and either lay on my head or the hubby's and then between us, usually under the covers and there's not a peep out of either one until the alarm goes off the next morning!

If we play a good game of fetch before bed Dixie curls up at my waist or legs and goes to sleep. She is most happy under the light bedspread and the reason she wants by my waist is I lay on a heating pad for my back and she likes that warmth too. If she's napped a long time while I worked she can be a bit rowdy - and I give her the '3 strikes & your out' rule too. If I get to take her to potty, then again for water, and she's STILL hopping off the bed it's crate time.
Lately though her 'power play' is to shove me or Dixie Daddy off the bed. I think we instinctively move so we don't worry about rolling on her and she takes advantage. Such a Diva.
Suede usually wears himself out by 8. I let him lay around until about 10 when I wake him up and take him for his final potty session of the night. I give him a puppy chewy stick when he goes into his crate. 5 minutes later he is on his back snoring.

Ryan or myself takes Scooby out for his bedtime wee at 10, then we go back inside, he has a nice cuddle and then into his crate in our room. Usually he settles straight down and goes to sleep, sometimes he might stay awake and give his favourite teddy a little chew first.
Whenever we decide to go to sleep, he lifts his head up when we open the door as if to say "night mummmm, night dad!", gives us a quick look and then straight back to sleep. Usually by the time I've settled into bed he is snoring away, I find it quite nice :) x
