I'd rather have/see pugs on the slim side. It saddens me to see so many pugs fat/obese. It just takes not letting them over eat. My smallest girl is 12lbs but she's only 9 inches tall & long. My largest boned pug is about 18lbs. I like them to have a waist like they should.

Your pug kids are adorable. Can't wait to meet some of them in person. I measure all my pugs food and am very strict with it. I've always told my family I refuse to have a obese pug(s). My vet says he wishes more of his pug clients were like me.

I believe Ms.Dixie was up to either 23 or 28 lbs before she got sick; I am sure she's lost a few pounds now that she's eating only about 8 to 12 oz a day ... which is probably better for her. She's very healthy tho and runs / tugs a lot so I am sure it's mostly muscle :-)

All of mine are slim...I'm with Got Pugs, I've seen too much of what letting them get fat does to their health and mobility.

We have Ms. Roxy the foster, who looks a bit like Jabba the Hut....on a strict diet and even though she's only been here a few days I can already see the difference. Will be interesting to see what she weighs at the vet Friday.

    Take care,
    Lisa

    Lisa,

If a pug needs to lose weight they come to my house. LOL.....I can say NO to those pug eyes. I too have seen what extra weight does to them health wise.

My MuShu is "just right" at 18 lbs. My first pug was "fluffy". I didn't know what the heck I was doing when I had my Mugsy. Poor thing. I know better now.
