Phoebe was Fancy when I got her but she picked up on the name change almost immediately. She now responds to Phoebe, Phoebes, Pheobers, Phoeber Doo, Baby, Baby Girls, Poo Poo and Babe just to name a few. Of course if you have food in your hand I think she will repsond to any name in the world you could think of! :)

I just discussed this subject with Tyra's new owners. They wanted to change her name immediately but I felt that with her going through all the changes and being trained in some basic commands and manners, that she was going through enough changes right now. I suggested to them the same thing about calling her TyraBelle for example, if Belle was the name they wanted. We call her Ty, Tyra.. my daughter calls her Tera because she does not like the name Tyra, and I also call her "Beauty"... she responds to all of them because it's in the tone of our voice more than what we are saying.

I agree that if you say it with good tone and good feelings like petting and scratching, and especially if you say it with food in your hand, they will likely come right over and plop down for a snack.

Being a Kenny Chesney fan I LOVE the name Chesney! But of course, your choice.

I named Miss Honeybee after a country music song called "Honeybee" by Blake Shelton.

My Bubba was called "Bisquit" for seven years. He was a large pug. We decided to change his name the day we adopted him.
He really needed a new name and responded very well to it.

Thanks everyone! I believe we've decided to simply add "Belle" to the end of her name. I've not met her yet...have only seen photos. She's nursing her litter of puppies and won't be available until September. As we say here in the south, "Lord willin' & the creeks don't rise" it is then that we'll make the near 4 hour drive to get her. Who knows, we may see her and "feel" a totally different name, but based on her description, I do believe "Chesney" fits her...and I wanted to add "Belle" simply because she's beautiful. (But then again, aren't all pugs?)

Thank you all....I feel like you're family b/c of our common love for squishy-faced babies!!
