Default ANTI GULP dishes FOR THE PUGS HERE...how fast does your PUG EAT?? lol

I am laughing because all the dogs get fed here at the same time each day
Gus is slow slow to eat as is Bella...and they are bulldogs but take their time to enjoy their food
the pugs are on the other hand inhale it.....lol
so I am getting 2 anti gulp dishes today for them and see how they do with them...

amazed at how fast they eat though
they are done and Gus is just starting this morning..lol

how fast does your pug eat?
I used to have bostons and could just leave the food out all day to graze......and if just the bulldogs would do that but with the PUGS.....they would litterally die from overeating I am sure.........so not doing that here at all.
A pugs world is full of play and sleep and of course good food.........

Lola takes her time, about 1.3 seconds to finish!!!!!! LOL
I started flooding her water and it slowed her down for about 2 days, and now she is just as fast, even with the water in it.
    Oh how they adapt!

Ray is done eating in seconds, like Lola. Minni, on the other hand, takes up to 30 seconds. I used to think Minni ate quickly until we adopted Ray!

the anti gulp dishes slow down the pug on eating ..........helps to avoid bloat and things like that..they are great but only could find ones that are smaller but they will work out ok..

Phoebe is a fast eater as well. I put a portion pacer ball in her food and I flood the food with water but she still just inhales it and then of course spends a few minutes burping afterwards.

Izabella also bolts her food. I took someone's advice on here and started dividing her food into a muffin tin with a dozen sections. it does slow her down to about 30 sec to a minute or so. I lock her in the laundry room so she does not harrass the boys after she is done. I don't let her out until they are done, and I have picked up any remaining food. Yes, they WILL eat themselves silly if given a chance. See my post about Izabella and the Chocolate Orange fiasco.

And search back a bit to when we first had her, and she managed to chew through the dogfood bag (plastic, not paper!) and eat until she almost split open when we first had her. It never occurred to us she might literally chew through the bag if it was on the floor. We keep the food in sealing buckets to keep it fresher, but when we've set it down until we had time to get it into the buckets, the boys never every bothered it. She is our first pug, and until you experience it, you honestly think that people must be exaggerating about their food obsession. I wonder why that is--are they missing something that makes them realize they are full? Or at least that they are not LITERALLY starving, as they seem to believe?

Now the routine is to immediately put the food into the buckets the instant we get home. If we can't, we leave the bag in the garage, which is detatched from the house. Since we have $10,000 worth of gym equipment in there (yes, we have a quadruple car garage and I have to park my car in the driveway, gr, but that is another story) we keep both a deadbolt as well as the doorknob lock on the door at all times. If Bella can somehow figure out how to get into there, we are in serious trouble.

The full buckets have sealing lids that I have a difficult time opening myself. We've got a small chest freezer in the laundry room, and the buckets just fit in the space between the freezer and the wall. The food buckets are pushed all the way to the back, and we keep the giant buckets of laundry soap in front of the food buckets.

Garbage goes on top of the washer when we are out of the house. We have put locks on all the cabinets dogs can reach. She is so sneaky--if we go outside even for a moment and leave the garbage can down, she goes for it. She also pointed out to us that we missed a cabinet when she dragged out a bag of flour and attempted to make pug paste. Flour + slobber = glue. And my husband did not take any pictures before he cleaned her up, darn it!
