Pugs can be a little hard headed and sometimes will do what they want no matter what you want! I expect that your puppy is just a little stubborn! Keep at it........he'll come around.

I KNOW Emma is super smart. However, she acts like shes brain damaged. She has hit her head on ALOT of things.

I love these stories! AND I love a chance to brag about my snookums! Seriously, no one else cares besides my husband and I so here goes:

*Knows at least 48 words (I have a list)
*Taught herself to bark when I call for my husband - if he can't hear me, he hears her
*Fakes going tinkle when it's cold outside so she can get back in quicker, will squat for about 3 sec. while keeping eye contact to see if she's getting away with it
*Follows the sound of something that fell and furiously checks the floor, knowing that's where it likely went
*Bats at her bowl while staring us down if we're fixing dinner and haven't yet tended to hers
*Dragged her bed in to my in-laws room when they were baby sitting for her (had been in another room)

I could go on and on... They are too precious, all of them!

I think both of our dogs are pretty smart. They've been very easily taught, especially since we started with klicker training. When Winston and I took our first clicker training class (introduction) he was the only dog who got the idea immediately. We were supposted to get the dog to stand on a cardboard box using only free shaping (no showing the dog what you want) and he had it figured out waaaaay before the other dogs. Most of them just sat there staring at their owners while Winnie was testing different things to figure out what I wanted.

When we got Ozzie she was a little over a year old and had never really had any training, apart from being taught to come when called (which she does perfectly). It was a little more difficult for her to grasp the concept of clicker training, since she wasn't used to learning things at all, but once she caught on, she has been very quick to learn.
Proud mama to Winston and Ozzie.
