Question Do i own a healthy pug???

My pug is nine months old. She has ALL of the normal pug characteristics (sheds a lot, noisy sleeper, sleeps a lot, addicted to food and so on) After extensive research I made the decision to have Luna spayed. This procedure directly affected Luna’s weight. (Which I read is a normal side effect to this procedure) So down to business, Luna weighs 23 pounds at nine months. She appears to be healthy but I cannot control her weight. She gets daily walks averaging about a mile. I also monitor her food intake. Any tips or suggestions? Does Luna sound unhealthy?? Please respond.

It takes time for the hormone imbalance to settle. My adopted male who was neutered at 5 yrs old gained 10 pounds and took a year to get it back off. The only suggestion I have is to feed a species appropriate diet as much as possible if you are willing and able...which is raw foods, raw bones, high protein, low carbs.

When a dog is over weight.....and cannot lose weight....thyroid needs to be checked out. It might just be her...or she might need meds.
