Each side has valid points and it's a decision I'll likely never face as the cost is just too incredible.... but, as of this moment, I think that if money were no object, I would clone Wonka. Partly for physical reasons, he's not the typical short and stocky pug, but I love his long and lean physique and his ever so slightly longer nose. But also, as Lisa said, I'd love to be able to start with him right from a puppy and see just how far he can go. We got him young (9 months) but he already had some fear issues and submissive urination issues.... I just wonder, knowing so much more about training now than I did when we brought him home, if I could have helped him be more confident and really be a super-star. He's so smart and talented, but my lack of training knowledge is what holds him back from learning even more. I love Wonka just the way he is, but it would also be wonderful to get a "2nd chance" and see Wonka as a puppy.

Clone Eddie and have 2 of them running and screaming at the big dogs and the tv, and big men, and whatever else he feels like screaming at, not on your life. Lol, but I really do love him.

the personality is what the dog is that makes it special...
every dog is soo different from the next
I love all my dogs personalities and so on..all are healthy and so on too..
but I think dogs are special in themselves..........
dogs are 99% wolf DNA already.......and that part of the dog will be there for a zillion dogs in the future
I would worry more if dogs were looking like cats instead of dogs when they were born in this world..lol then I might.....
not me I would not clone any of mine
My son on the other hand would clone his bulldog and he has seriously thought of this already........
A pugs world is full of play and sleep and of course good food.........
The lady in the news-tainment piece paid $50,000. Originally was going to be $100,000 but with the TV show tagging along she talked the lab down to half price. It's a bit much for me to consider. Though if the $50K also included a trip/vacation to Korea... :)
No... I'm afraid that I would only look at the clone as a 'replacement' -- it would be hard not to -- which is not fair to the memory of the dear departed, or to the clone.

WOW! Think of what someone like Lisa could do for pug welfare with $50,000! Or underprivileged children....
We would clone our Otis. he is the best dog we've ever had. He's never given us a moment's concern. We got him at 2-1/2 years old and I would just love to see him as a puppy.

maybe if they ever do cloning in the states any purebred cloned would include a 100% fee to go towards rescue for that breed, mix breed would divide up the amount among the dominate breeds > 10% makeup. It'll never happen, but it sure would pay a lot of rescue costs.
I would if there wasn't any risk for my pup and it wasn't crazy expensive.
