Not sure
ABC just ran a story on a woman who had her dog cloned, process to be shown on a TLC show called I cloned My Dog. Would you clone your pug? I would consider it even knowing her personality would likely be different. If cost wasn't and issue I am betting my decision would be yes.

If cost was no issue, I would really like to know what some of my sweet seniors were like as puppies, and give them better care than the originals had. Old Bailey is such a pistol at 16-17, I can't even imagine what a handful she was at 6 months!
Take care,

Same as Lisa's answer. Would love to have seen Phoebe as a puppy!

Genetics is only a very small part of personality development. So for me, no. I understand the impulse folks have, but have seen too many times when people try to "replace" one animal (or person) with another, and it does not ever work. Much of a relationship is shared memories and experiences. I think the temptation would be to see the new animal as simply the old one, rather than a new and unique individual who happens to share the DNA of the other.
For me, too, the staggering cost of the procedure is just sickening. If I had that much money to blow, I would adopt a dog from a rescue, and give the rest to care for many, many deserving animals who are already here.
But honestly, even if it were free, no, I don't think I would do it.
Don't think I would do it either, some things I just don't think we should mess with. My first thought was that Toby is pretty close to perfect, but Bella on the other hand is a real stinker and why would I want to reproduce that LOL. She is my heart dog though and I love her like crazy![]()

No, even if I could have Princess back via cloning, I couldn't bear to lose her again.
What went through my mind when I thought about it was tha Mz Tilly has so few health issues and the ones she's had are not too serious (eating & grumbly tummy). Sure I'd love the same personality but that is not clonable. So I was thinking health and *maybe* a bit of similar personality. Now the similar personality is probably as likely as if I adopted a sibling/close relative since they may have had similar genetics, predisposition, and home life. About as similar as a clone anyway. But as I type this I have Mz Tilly sitting next to me, she's watching TV and I'm typing. Few minutes ago I was sitting on the kitchen floor while she ate breakfast and I read the newspaper. It's a good routine and I will miss it long before I am prepared for the change.
As much as I love her, I wouldn't clone her due to all of her health issues.I couldn't think of putting her through all that again.I'll love her through this life.
