Default WHAT is the CORRECT way to LIFT a PUG? ...

Hopefully someone has some step by step instructions here on this
I am sure that I am just lifting them whatever way I can..lol
but do know that this is a correct way to do this..

    lets hear some ideas?

Zeus is so silky and soft....he slips soo easy so want to know the right way to do this
I have never dropped him but it would good to know..the right way

likely one of the show people will know for sure.

we all have to lift them on the vets table too......so more then once we need to lift them..lol
A pugs world is full of play and sleep and of course good food.........

I don't think there is a "correct" way as such but you need to give them adequate support. I always get my hands under their chest right behind the front legs so that weight is carried by their ribs and not on their stomach. If I need to use my right hand to check something out (I am right handed) I scoop them up with my left hand; elbow is against the outside of their left hip, left hand is under their chest with fingers coming up the front of the chest and left thumb just behind left front leg. I can then hold them against my body and right hand is free.

Sounds pretty much exactly like what I do, depending on if I need a free hand or not. Buddy is the only one I can't scoop up like that as he is too big and heavy for one arm holding. I always grab him under his chest with my left hand and under his butt/thigh area with my right hand. He usually ends up with my left arm wrapped around his chest and my right arm wrapped around his butt/thighs and carries like a bag of potatoes.

    have to agree there too
Zeus and Max are a bit heavy..to hold and slippery especially Zeus
try to put one hand under between the front paws and other hand over the pug and supporting the other part of the pug..
works soo far......but they are sure not easy to hold..lol

worse if they are a bulldog.......lol

I hold them with one arm just behing the front legs and a hand under their behind. I only carry them with one arm if I have to because, well, it just seems so uncomfortable to just dangle :D Also, Winston is quite heavy, so it's hard.
Proud mama to Winston and Ozzie.
