Sepra Calendar Contest

This year SEPRA is creating its first ever calendar and the pictures that are going to be included we want from you! So, we have created a contest to choose the pictures for the calendar and want all of you to join in the fun! We will be taking photo submissions until April 1st. We ask that each photo you submit be accompanied by a donation of $5. Also you must include your name, location, and your pug(s) name. Please include in the body of your email for photo submissions whether you are paying via check or paypal and what email address you are using for paypal so we can match up with the correct photos.

Once all photos have been submitted, we will place them all on the website. Then, voting begins on Sunday April 6th. All photos that meet the qualifications listed below will be posted and you may vote as many times as you like. Each vote will cost $1. For example, if you want to vote for Elmer and you send in $10 that will be 10 votes for Elmer.

Voting will take place in 2 week increments. After each 2 week period, we will narrow down the pugs by the number of votes and start all over until we get to the final 13 pugs. The 13 pugs with the most votes will be either the cover pug or a picture of one of the 12 months of 2009. There will also be random pug photos throughout the calendar of the next highest votes after the 13 highlighted pugs. The last day of voting will be July 13th.

When submitting votes, you must specify which pug you want your vote to count for. There is a comment section in PayPal to include this information.

Photo submission guidelines:

• To ensure a high quality final product, photos submitted for consideration must be original, straight from the camera.
• Minimum camera resolution should be 3.1 megapixels
• Subject of the photo should fill most of the frame
• If shooting indoors, the red-eye reduction flash mode should be used to reduce the dreaded "blue eye" effect.
• No cropping, resizing, or other modifying of the original photo is allowed.
• Photos should be taken with a dedicated camera and not cell-phone cameras.
  
  We will be printing the calendar using a four-color press, with 8" x 10" pages and full bleeds. This will result in the best photo duplication possible and a very professional finished product. Because of the requirements needed to print at this size and this quality, we have to start with the best photos possible. Your original picture will be in .JPG format, which is compressed to reduce file size. Every time that photo is changed and re-saved, it's recompressed and loses some detail. We can't afford to lose detail printing at this size so submitting the original picture is important. We'll take care of cropping, color adjusting, and everything else needed to ensure a calendar that everyone will be proud to display in their home or office.

Please note, SEPRA will retain the rights to use these photos in any advertising or printing in the future. We will also be making packets of note cards with selected pictures from submissions. These note cards will be available at Pugfest and on our web site after that.

*LOL* I was thinking since it is a SEPRA calendar, and Diamond came from SEPRA, maybe that would be a better option.

Someday I am going to make a whole calendar that is nothing but Thelma.

I will be anxious to see it!! I haven't got a pic of my two yet that I want to submit so am trying to catch them at the right moment in the right setting.

We're really looking forward to putting this calendar together for SEPRA. The (local) printer that'll be printing it up is also excited about the project.

Having said this, we have to stress that the submitted photos have to be right out of the camera. 8"x10" is a lot of ground to cover and we'll need all the megapixels you can send us to ensure a high print quality.

If you have a picture that you want to submit but you're not sure if it's got enough resolution, feel free to send it to me ([email protected]) and mention in the email or subject line that you want it evaluated. I'll respond back saying yes or no, and then you can take the next step and say you want it officially entered and the paypal donation made, or go back to the drawing board.
