As of yesterday Pumpkin is on antibiotics for what we hope is a urinary track infection. I noticed blood in her urine yesterday morning and was able to get a small sample and bring it to the vet. Good thing they are open on Sundays!Pumpkin Update 08/16/10
They said she has a LOT of blood in her urine and it could be a number of things including stones or an inflamed bladder. She will be on the antibiotics for 14 days. When she has her hardware removed on 09/01/10 and is under anesthesia, they will use a needle to aspirate a sterile specimen and make sure there is no more blood.
She is still a happy little thing! Eating, drinking and acting normally so I really hope the antibiotics are all she needs!!
Please keep her in your thoughts!!!
We are also bringing in a 2 yr old boy that is on pheno that is NOT controlling his seizures. His last test for levels with 9/09...Wouldn't you know..they have a new baby!!!! He will need testing.....and probably bromide to hopefully control the seizures. He might be with us for a long time as it might take a special someone to adopt him once we get him stable.
It never ends, does it?
I hope Pumpkin's problem is just an infection and not stones, another expensive surgery and painful recovery.
At least if she does have stones, hopefully they could do the surgery at the same time they do the hardware removal.
Take care,
Lisa

sorry to hear pumpkin has another problem and the other little puggy will say a prayer for both
Make sure Pumpkin is off the antibiotics at least 5 days prior to them taking a urine sample. If not, the antibiotics will distort the urinalysis results.
