A828036, at the Bakersfield shelter, supposedly going to be put down today. senior male, fawn. When I call the shelter their machine disconnects me.

It seems he was pulled by another rescue today and is safe....thank goodness!

There is a dignity in their confused stare, the patina of age in their silver faces. I don't know if anyone remembers the movie Cat Ballou, in which a rancher is so protected by his daughter and her helpers, that he can scarcely go to the outhouse by himself. That is the way that pugs regard their responsibilities. They are always at our heel. I am eternally grateful that this old man's service in life was not repaid by euthanasia after being held on concrete and wire. Thanks Lisa and all who took an interest in him.
