Yes exactly Kayte...my dad will say to me "How you doing ole girl" haha!
Maybe its worth tricking him into going to a breeder, not sure he'd be able to leave without a pup :)

Awww, she's adorable! Do you know for sure the puppies are all pug? Sounds like the owner wouldn't bother to care about such indiscretions.
I actually got to see her former mate as he was at the rescue with her.. he's a BEAUTIFUL black, cobby, stocky boy who appeared to be of show quality.. I just spoke to her last year when she was buying him from someplace in the midwest and he had amazing lines.. or so she said. Of course, I can not be positive they are pure until they are born and start growing a bit, but from what I know of the woman, I know she was looking to breed show stock so I would think she was fairly careful.
I have also learned a few things about Tyra (who has not had her pups, but she is probably going to whelp this week) ... for one.. she will not go outside without someone walking with her and even then, half the time I have to coax her out with treats. She is not house trained at all, but she IS trained to a potty pad. I learned this purely by accident and it has made things MUCH easier around the house. Now to get her transferred from potty pads to grass at all times LOL. I have learned that as she gets more comfortable around us, she is showing just a hint of food aggression, which makes me happy that she is going to an "only dog" house. Of course, her new owner is learning all of this as I do, since I'm keeping her totally in step with Tyra's progress. I have learned that while she does not know how to play, she IS very smart, and she is learning what a rope toy is all about. She will not chase a ball, but she does show interest in the other dogs when they chase it.
We are working on her fear of feet and loud noises, and she is making excellent progress. She is still very very watchful, but is not cowering like she was at first. Tany and Donavon (Daughter and Hubby) have been extremely supportive and very gentle with her.. always aware that she needs more than our other dogs. All in all, we are impressed with her and she and hubby are having a mini love affair with each other LOL... every time he's home, she's in his lap.

Sounds like art work in progress :-)

Thank you for rescuing her would love to know what she was thinking the first night in bed with your mom so safe and loved something she has not known, you are truly a pug angel.
She is definitely a work in progress.. I positively adore her and love watching her come further and further out of her shell each day.. heck, sometimes it feels like "each hour" rather than day. I remember when she was 8 weeks old and I sold her to this woman.. she was such an expressive little girl. I am still irritated when I see how she is now vs then.
Oh, and did I tell anyone that though she ducks and covers for loud noises, when I am using the food processor she is RIGHT THERE all excited and jumping around.. barking and looking like a totally different pug. It seems that whatever she was fed, it may have been prepared in a processor. I'm telling you, this whole situation is just a study of contradictions with her. On the one hand, she seems to have been pampered by men and children, but on the other hand, she's afraid of loud noises and anything in your hand.. she's afraid of feet and fast movements. She is not potty trained, but is trained to go on a puppy pad at two years old??? she doesn't know how to play, but acts like a tiny puppy again when she hears a food processor. She's fussy with the other dogs with her treats, and sometimes with her food, and then again, sometimes not at all. She doesn't want to go outside by herself, but really wants to be close enough to watch the other dogs as long as they aren't watching her back. Today she got very interested in a game of tuggy, but it was immediately obvious that she and her mom were going to get into a fight, so I put the tug away (most times I let the dogs decide on their own who is going to win a fight as long as no blood is spurting, but with Tyra preggers, and not knowing her well enough to know her reaction, I did not want to chance it yet). She's coming along faster than I could have hoped, but we still have a very long way to go.

Leia is the same way with sudden movements, loud noises, if you run past or if you lift your arm/leg/hand/feet up quickly, she'll cower away and smoosh up her face like she's bracing herself for something terrible. I can defintiely tell she was abused before she found us. Its horrible to see them that way. I'm sorry Tyra had to go through all of that, but keeping positive she can do anything and learn anything with perfect love & patience. She's in the best place for it!! Totally amazing about the food processor! Keep it up Kayte, you're doing wonderfully!

My friend was over today, with her two mini aussies... one is 15 yrs old and just lays around with Jonas and watches.. but the other is 2, and He was having a BLAST with the big dogs in the big fenced yard. Tyra actually showed signs of wanting to play with him... I think. She was either playing or warning.. either way she showed excitement. Her tail was up, but not wagging. Her hackles were *not* up.... but she ran right outside with us all and while she did not run with them, her ears were perked forward in interest. I was very pleased with her reactions today.

Aw...little Tyra. My heart hurts for her. It is times like these I wish we could hear their thoughts so we could understand.
Tyra is becoming more animated! Today, she actually RAN to the back door when I held the treat bag to go outside! It was very exciting. She also LOVES when I feed the puppies because what they don't eat (kibble with water on it til it is mush) she gets to share with Abby. It's SO cute to see her tiny little face light up and watch the excitement radiate through her body!
