say a pug that is coming out of a divorce or other circumstances..
i was talking to a girl in bulldog rescue last night and she says the abused dogs always settle in the best..since they are starving for attention and so on..
she said compared to a dog that say had it all and had to be rehomed..
I think Max adjusted fine here as an abused dog but it took a long time to get him totally used to the place and many obstacles to overcome..
any thoughts on this??
interesting discussion
we talked for a long time on the phone last night about this
Max breeder also has rehomed some abused fosters and she said they all settled in fast too..
A pugs world is full of play and sleep and of course good food.........
There is no solid rule about this, all rehomed dogs are abused to the extent that their connections are broken and they are whisked unwillingly into a new environment. The loneliness must be very hard. I have seen dogs crated in the garage all their lives, and loved pets whose medical issues went beyond the family budget--some dogs resettled easily, others gave their new homes a prolonged cold shoulder. Max just got very lucky to reach his forever home with someone who worked so hard to help him.
