It's not easy to foster. It takes a special person, a special family to take them in love them, heal them and then hand them over and then do it all over again.

I went to yard sales Sat. and there was a picture and a blurb about rehoming a 3 year old male lab. The people said they were moving to Florida and said because the state insures the houses in Florida they don't allow any black dogs.

I told her to call the rescue. There is a wondeful lab one in Richmond, then I thought what a jerk!

I'd never move somewhere that I couldn't bring my dogs. Period. I mean, come on! Are you telling me there are NO black dogs in FLORIDA? We know that is NOT true, right?

I have been around rescue long enough to know a black dog has virtually no hope of rehoming after puppyhood----but the thought that if the state pays, there will be no black dogs hovers between rascist and flat stupid. Poor dog.

I'll vote for the stupid!!! Does the adoption problems for black dogs go for Pugs too? I find that hard to believe.

No, but in general, black dogs don't get chosen at shelters, also the ungroomed "Mop Dogs" (poodles, bichons, ****-zu's, lhasa's, etc.)....and the older dogs.
