    Default Rescued 3 kittens today

This is not a pug rescue, so I hope its okay to put this here.
When I got to work this morning, one of my co workers grabbed me and took me outside to our huge dumpster. She said that when she took out our lunch room garbage and thru it in she could here some scratching in the bin. I told her that it was probably just a rat, but would check anyway. When I climbed up and had a look, sure enough there was scratching going on in there but not a rat, it was 3 kittens. There has been a stray hanging around work now for a year and well it looks like she had babies. They were probably about 6 - 8 weeks old. We are thinking that they followed mommy in there for breaky and then couldn't get out. On the outside there are places that they can jump up onto and get in, but once in no way out for little ones. So I got another co worker who was still at home to stop by my house and pick up one of my kennels. Sent one of our shippers into the dumpster and wrangled 3 very scared, frisky, fighting little kittens. They are so cute. I called a cat rescue group and they came and picked them up for us. Now we gotta catch momma so she can be spayed and not have any more litters.
This happened to us about 2 years ago, caught 5 kittens, the momma and an intact male. All of the 5 kittens were adopted out, the male went to a special home as he has FIV and the momma who they named Hope is still living at the shelter. She is a black kitty and apparently not very easy to adopt out, not to mention when she was caught she was wild.
The rescue group thanked us, took pictures of where we found them and is going to post the story in their news letter.
Angers me, why can't people spay and neuter their pets. Why do they just dump them and leave it for other, kinder people to take care of.
I did not get a chance to take pictures, but the rescue group is going to take some and send them to me.

Whether or not it is true, black cats are believed to be wanted for inappropriate reasons around Halloween. She is better off where she is. It is quite a sight to see Anne's wild and feral kittens parade into her kitchen heading for the goat milk in the icebox. Their little tails ramrod straight up in the air, hissing and spitting and purring all at once.

Oh I would love to see that. These 3 were quite the little fighters. I talked to the rescue last night to see how the vet appointment went. One little girl had red paint on her tail and her toes, poor thing. She was the prettiest one, the biggest one and the fiestiest one. She was grey, and the other 2 were black. I am trying to think of some names that I can suggest to the rescue. 1 grey female, 1 black female, and 1 black male. Anyone have any suggestions.
I would have loved to have fostered these 3 but with my big black male cat who is the bully on the block, I didn't think it would be such a great idea.

Thank you for rescueing those little ones and for trying to catch Mama and have her spayed! I will never understand WHY people don't spay and neuter, especially when there are so many programs that will do it for FREE, if not at a very reduced rate!

Awwww - Gina - you did good! :)

I belong to a Freecycle group here and people are ALWAYS posting a "my cat just had kittens!!" postings - giving away kittens. Really pisses me off because I want to say SPAY YOUR POOR CAT, WHY DON'T YOU?!! There are low-cost spay clinics everywhere - there's really no excuse. Drives me crazy. There are already so many homeless cats (and dogs).....

And you and I both know that black cats are the BEST! Have no idea why people don't like them. I think they are actually very different....

Thanks Kara. Yes black kitties are the best, especially the big fluffy ones, lol. Today I will be setting the trap to catch the momma and maybe even more babies, not sure what is out there. I didn't want to set the trap on Friday night as nobody would be there for the long weekend and I didn't want any kitties or cats trapped for that long. We shall see what we get tonight.

Well, we caught the momma. She was a tiny little grey girl, that was friendlier than we thought she'd be. She would actually let us touch her, no hissing or scratching. I set the trap at 3:30 this afternoon and by 7:30 she was all comfy in her kennel at the vets ready to be checked over and spayed tomorrow. The last cat we caught at work 2 years ago the rescue group named her hope. So they asked me and my co worker if we would like to name her. We decided on Faith. Even though I have little Faith right now that people would get what we are doing to these animals, but maybe someday things will change. It seems that our area, which is an industrial area, is the place to dump unwanted cats. I felt so bad for her. She looked so scared when I left. I am really not very good at this, and cried all the way home. If I didn't have big mean Brodix who would harm her, she would be calling my home her home. So tomorrow I will be setting another trap just to make sure there aren't anymore kittens around, hopefully not. I am sorry I haven't any pictures yet. When I got the call from my co-worker that she was in the trap I dropped everything and ran, without my camera, sorry. Hopefully the rescue group will send me some soon and I will post them.
