Yesterday the Pugmobile took the one hour trip to a rural SPCA where someone had reported a stray pug. They had her for the necessary days to look for the owner, then gave her to Under My Wing Pug Rescue. She's about 5, fat fat fat, obviously a recent mom, and wheezy. Did I mention she's fat?

She hauled herself into the car by herself and spent the trip home on the centre console, breathing lovingly into my face. She's a real velcro pug, and especially loves Scot. She likes tummy rubs, giving kisses and is house trained (excluding the Christmas tree) so was obviously a house dog, but she has no obedience training. She has zero food aggression and gets along well with the boys. The vet today wrote on her report that she's 'lovely'.

I gave her a warm nice bath last night and discovered that someone had failed to help her clean up after her puppies. She stood quietly and patiently while I washed her lady parts for her, even though it can't have been comfortable.

We'll be keeping her for a couple of days until her breathing is a bit better, then she'll go into her long term foster care in Ottawa to have her dental/spay/palate surgery and recover a bit.

What a happy looking girl! She probably feels so much better with a bath and clean lady-parts and a warm sofa to sit on with friends. I hope her breathing improves quickly and she's able to get a wonderful Forever Home soon.

She is very cute. While it does look like she's had pups, it looks like they've been weaned a long time ago. There should be no leftovers from that....Could she have been recently in heat, have an infection or be pregnant?

Wally is trying to be a good host, and has tried to be nice and clean her ears, but I think he's a little miffed that she doesn't know how/want to play. He'll play bow or slap and she'll turn away, and if he tries to lay a paw on her (literally, he keeps trying to gently put his front foot on her head when he wants to play) she corrects him with a soft motherly growl. We assumed that she had had puppies because of the size/pendulousness of her teats, but we really don't know. It could have been a heat; the vet ruled out a pregnancy today (although the thought had crossed out minds that maybe she wasn't just chubby. There's no fever or discharge or other sign of infection.
