New Pug for me, maybe..............

I am in the process of rescuing a blind female from the puppy mill owner where I got Delta.I called her and she is more than willing to GIVE me the dog. I really expected her to sell her. She is 11 months old, and missing one eye and blind in the other. I told her I don't need her papers, and I will get her fixed, she did say that was the only thing she was making sure of, So if I don't get her, the person that does, has to sign an agreement to get her fixed. Her name is Sweetie, but I want to change it, to what I don't know yet,any ideas? something that sounds like sweetie? Thank you for listening.

Thanks and congrats on your new rescue. She sounds like she needs you desperately and is lucky you came along. Fingers crossed that all goes smoothly and she will be cuddling on your lap at home in no time.

How well does she know the name "sweetie"? If she was just kept in a pen and pretty much ignored the name may not really be too firmly set in her memory. I usually observe my pets and let their actions, behaviors and looks sort of let me know what me what their name should be. Remember if you get her that she might be truly terrified for a while as she is 100% unfamiliar with her new physical world as well as the humans and pets that already live there. She's going to need lots of patience, assistance and love from your family. I'm sure you will be able to provide those things. No one would adopt a "special needs" dog unless they had an extra portion of compassion and the committment to provide for the dogs special needs. I wish you both the best of luck in your new adventures together.
