Default I thought he was house trained?!

So my pug is 7 months old and he's been potty-trained for the past few months with absolutely NO accidents. We thought he'd be harder to train but he caught on really quickly and even had a steel bladder (he'd be fine all night long.. so around 8 hours).

However, we went camping this weekend and he peed in the trailer, then we got home and left him inside for half an hour while we cleaned the trailer and he peed twice. Following that, that night he peed 3 times and took a poop on the floor.

We're now basically starting at the beginning and we don't have time for this as I just started university again TODAY. ugh! Does anybody have any suggestions? I was thinking that it could be a medical problem, does anybody know?

Last thing, he's been neutered and no longer marks his territory so I know that's not it.

He could just be stressed from the trip and the change in his routine or it could be a UTI. A trip to the vet may be in order.

It could be a medical thing, but doubtful considering he's doing both pees and poops. Also, male dogs will not stop marking their territory after being neutered. Is this the first time he's been *inside* somewhere else besides your house? If so, that could be it. He might know not to potty in YOUR house but maybe not other places? My suggestion would be just to not consider him housetrained yet and continue to train him not to go indoors. 7 months is still considered fairly early, especially for the smaller breeds. He'll catch on.

Thanks! We've gone camping every weekend since May so he's pretty used to it and has never peed in the trailer before. He has really stopped marking his territory since being neutered so it's just kind of weird for him to be going to the bathroom inside. I guess we'll have to continue rewarding him for going to the bathroom outside.

Do you recommend using a belly band for when we can't be paying close attention to him? It seems like a kinder thing to do than locking him away in a crate.... at least until we're sure he's potty trained.

I would definately make certain he doesnt have a UTI . Innapropriate elimination and frequent accidents can certainly be signs of a UTI.

Crate training shouldn't be seen as an unkind thing, for dogs it is more of a den than a cage. My Scooby will put himself in his crate on a night time now :) As it's his own little place with his comfy bed and his teddy in it.

Lots of people on here crate train, just wanted to point out that it isn't a "mean" thing to do :)

I hope you manage to get back on track with house training, I would definitely agree to check for a UTI first x

If you can definitely rule out a UTI by taking a urine sample to the Vet, it's almost certain that he has regressed in his training. It happens and 7 months is very young for a pug puppy to be perfectly house trained. Start again from scratch and he'll pick it up again.
