Russell never signals either - we have worked out a schedule that works for all of us and adhere to it. He's flexible as long as he isn't asked to hold it longer than 7 hours (although he's quite fine overnight while sleeping). During weekdays he's out around 7:00am, 1pm, 9pm. Of course if he's behaving oddly and sniffing a ton or circling, we stop what we're doing and whisk him out just incase. Of course I'm the wrong person to be commenting right now as Russell is having some marking issues lol

I have had dogs for many many years and in all those years..I had a boston one time that was really vocal and said to her if you can be soo vocal..why can't you bark to go outside and she did from that time on..lol. still laugh about that..
most of the dogs here will go and sit by the door
but the pugs are not the best for letting me know at all..
I let them on schedule too..it works best.........
if I see someone running in a circle fast....they are OUT OUT OUT..quick..lol. I picked up on that fast years ago..
A pugs world is full of play and sleep and of course good food.........
i keep mongo on a set schedule - 9am, 4pm, 10pm. it took a while to get her potty trained, but it seems like overnight she suddenly got it and now we havent had accidents in quite some time. i also always watch for the sniffing or mongo will go in a corner and start to do this 'pug jig' is what i like to call it.. that means a poop is coming. her pee is usually when she's busy doing something, jumps up ears alert and just runs off.. usually her pee squat comes shortly after. but keeping her on the set schedule has really helped and she learned that she has to go during those times and holds it inbetween.
