Default Pee pad in a condo

So I live in a condo and I keep a pee pad out. As of the last week or 2, she started digging at it when I wasn't home. I think she may chew on it too because I come home and there will be a piece sticking out of her mouth and her nose looks all white. I read to try using bitter apple spray which I just bought so haven't had the chance to try.
I'm wondering if anyone else went through a phase like this?

I either have to put her in a crate when I go out (right now she's in a small room with her stuff. Or I have to maybe take her outside to do her business and than put it away for when I'm out and hope she doesn't just go on the floor. She's pretty good at people's houses to either hold it or let us know so I have some faith she won't just go anywhere.

My puppy is 12 weeks old. I have tried bitter spray, but it just doesn't seem to work. what i have been doing so he pees and poops in the same space is that i have small treats for him. everytime he pees or poops i give him one for a good jobs seems to be working as far as the chewing the puppy i spank in the butt when i say him do that i say no and then i ignore him. since he wants my attention he will stop. what he has began doing is eating my carpet. hope this helps

Depending on how old she is she should be fine.. well, unless you're gone for a very very long time. We can't leave Diesel with anything when we're gone except a couple toys, water, and his bed. He's also babygated in the kitchen otherwise he finds things to chew on - he's no longer teething so I'm not sure whether it's just a stage or not.

Yea I bought the spray, I haven't had the chance to see if it'll work or not but we'll see.... I'll keep you posted :)
She always goes the the bathroom on her pee pad, no problem. She was a breeze ''potty'' training. Just she knows when we're gone and just rips the thing apart .... :S
I may either start putting her in her crate, or making sure she goes and than put the peepad away and hope...

Wally used to follow me around and lick up the spray as I put it on things. He is also a pee pad eater, so we don't bother with it anymore unless we know we are going to be gone for more than 8 hours.

To keep my sane while I'm out and not having to worry if Chloé has torn it apart... I do have one of those peepad holder type frame things, and I just leave it out sans pee pad lol. (only when I leave). I'd rather her pee on it if she Needed to apart from eating and getting it stuck in her nose like she use to. We'd come up to a piece in her mouth and her nose all white, don't want her inhaling it. Soooo, she just has gone on the peepad holder which I prefer.
