    Default Collar or harness?

Right now I am using a martingale style collar for Ruby. She does still pull on walks on occasion. She's a good walker with me, but when my mom or sister take her outside she does pull more with them because they dont correct her which is annoying. I'v googled and talked to other pug owners, and every pug owner I have come across uses a harness for their pugs because of their breathing problems. Would it be best to always use a harness with a pug over the collar? I did use a harness on Ruby when she was a puppy but I didnt like it, it would rub under her armpits and cause irritation when walking. And there are sooo many different harness styles out there, wouldnt even know where to start to find the right one for her.

Any suggestions? The thing that freaks me out too is if a pug pulls too hard, and puts pressure on their throat, apparently their eyes can pop out of their sockets which would need to be corrected with surgery. Im good at stopping her from pulling on walks, because I stop in place and make her circle back around me to my side, and dont walk again until she settles down, but like I said, my mom and sister dont really correct her on walks and she pulls a lot with them.

I use step in harnesses on both my pugs. Bella is a puller and she doesn't pull as much with it, compared to a regular harness. I occasionally use a collar on Toby (he does not pull) but a collar is out of the question with Bella.

I use a Lupine step-in harness. Always a harness over a collar for walks.

Doxies & minions all wear harnesses for walks and traveling. Collars are for decoration and id tags only. No matter the breed, I feel collars are too damaging to the throat of a dog

Would you say the lupine step in harness is the best type for a pug? Im looking for something that wont put too much pressure on Ruby. I have seen harnesses with the leash clip on the front, to reduce pulling because it makes them walk sideways.

Harness is the way to go, I have 2 pugs and they have always been more comfortable in the harness. I agree with others collars can be very damaging to the throat. I also find I have better control of them. My youngest has always been a puller but seems to be an easier wall in the harness.

I like the Lupine because it doesn't rub her anywhere. If you can, try on several brands and see what fits the best.

This is the one I use on Bella except her's is a different pattern. It fits her well and I've never had any problem with it.

I use a collar harness combo collor just got her name tag and revolution tags and harness for walking. It's not good to use the collor to walk a pug due to them having breathing problems. With a pug harness all the way :)
