Hello,
I have a 2 year old pug. Recently we watched my sister's 10 year old beagle and he seemed to take to her really well and actually was behaving better (not barking as much, etc). We've wanted a 2nd pug for a while so we figured now was a good time. Our pug puppy is 3 months old, and although they have only been living together 4 days or so I am a little concerned about the aggression in our older pug. When the older pug first met the new female puppy, he nipped her ear in which she squealed. Ever since, we have not had an issue with him biting her. However, he seems to be displaying aggressive behavior chasing her and standing over her barking..sometimes he snaps at her but he never actually bites her. He will put her ear in his mouth and just kinda lick it and it will just sit in his mouth with him doing nothing. She seems to back down most of the time but he doesnt seem to back down ever. Once in a while she swats her paw at the air and he gets on edge with that. Other then that, she doesnt seem to go to crazy chasing him or anyhting. Over the past day or so we also noticed he sometimes stands over her as if he wants to hump her. My older dog has been fixed since he was a puppy and ever since he was fixed, he has not displayed this behavior until the new puppy came around. He also barks at her constantly. Most of the time she seems like shes submissed like he will chase her or she will back away and chew on her toys, but it doesnt stop his barking. We have done all the things we've been told (feed the older one first, give him alone time from the puppy, separate food bowls and sleeping areas)... Is there anything I can do, is this normal?
Hello &to the village! I have an only pug so I don't have any advice but I'm sure someone will chime in. Welcome!

When you say that he's barking, what kind of bark is it? Many dogs will bark when they want to play or get excited. Often it's not agression at all. It's also normal for a grown up dog to be a little bossy with the a 3 month old puppy, but they shouldn't be mean. It would be easier to tell it you had a video of his behaviour.
