She has never had an accident in the house, except when it comes to pooping. This morning even, she was outside for nearly 15 minutes but the second she was brought in she went to the girls room and did her job there.
Any ideas?
She's almost 1 years old, and has no other problems we've seen. I don't know if this is a fear to do it outside, or what...
First...does she ever poop outside??? Do you make a big deal out of it??? If so.....do you make a big deal out of her pooping in the house at this age...and crate her for a while telling her she's a bad girl she should be pooping outside???
One option.....Take her outside....if she doesn't poop....Cage her for 1/2 hr..then take her out again....and once she poops make a big deal out of it and let her run loose in the house.
Another option: Take her outside.......either stick a thermometer or a match (unlit...wet the sulfa end with your mouth) stuck up her rectum when you know she should be going. Wait 10 minutes.....maybe 15 and when she poops....Make a big deal out of it and give her a super treat!
I would also like to add that if she is going to the same place then you need to get some kind of cleaner that really cleans deep so to get the smell out. We may not smell or see anything but dogs have a great sense...
Thank you Shaynapug! I'll definitely try that, and see how it goes.
She's never pooped outside (we've only had her 3 days, and she's only done it twice) But no she didn't poop in the same spot either. At this point there's no specific time that she has gone either. (two separate times) so I'll keep watching her, and try the praise/treat thing!
And if she does poop inside again, I'll try the crate thing and put one outside for her.
No I didn't mean to I would crate her outside. I wouldn't do that to any dog. I meant I would take one of her poos outside if nothing else worked.
And it's not the potty that's an issue, it's only poo that she does in the house, so it's a little trickier, but we're trying the crate thing if she continues to have accidents in the house
