Just relax and have fun!! Right before you walk into the ring, look down and focus on how much you love your pug!

No matter how long you train, you never know what is going to happen when you go to your first trial. Just enjoy the process.

I'm a little late replying, but I ditto what everyone else has said so far, go for it! I remember our first obedience trial, I was scared to death and it didn't help that Beavis and I had not slept in over 24 hours by the time we got to the show site. Then they kept pushing back the time our class was supposed to show. I noticed how the people with the Goldens and BC's kept looking over at us like we were in the wrong ring.

I thought I'd pee on myself when we finally entered the ring, but all our practicing really paid off, I thought we'd be doing good to qualify but we actually took first place and beat all the Goldens and BC's!

It helps me to get there early so my dog can have a good sniff around the show site, and then we just practice our moves. It helps my dog get used to the distractions and helps to center me.

Little did I realize that first show was the start of a time-consuming and expensive addiction! I have a blast at the shows and obedience people are pretty nice! Just go have fun and enjoy being with your dog! Oh, and shop at all the great vendor booths. I can spend more money at a dog show than I can anywhere else.
