    Default Collar trouble

We just got Doug a new collar, that I want to add is very loose and light weight nylon, and Dougie HATES IT!! He has a training collar (it's SENSE-ible brand) and when we started putting it on him he hated it too and we spent three days watching him run around rubbing his neck on everything, scratching at it, and looking at us with a very sad face and whining. It was terrible. So now, he's getting close to growing out of his harness and so we got him a collar for traveling and the park and we'll get him a harness for walking (he doesn't wear anything in the house). I kind of thought that since we got him used to the harness, the whole collar thing wouldn't be a big deal. But here we go again...I feel like Doug and I are fighting
Other little guys do this? Should I ease him in or just make him wear it all day until he stops being weird about it?

Cyril hates collars, so I don't use them. If he's fine with a harness why are you switching to a collar? I would also NEVER leave him alone in the house with a collar on - it's dangerous!!! Cyril is 'au naturel' at home.

If you want to persevere with the collar then I would suggest little and often, with LOTS of praise and treats. Maybe put it on him before meal times when he's distracted by his food, let him eat wearing it and then take it off. He'll soon get used to it.
Is his collar just for his tags? Why not fasten them to his harness.......I do.

When I first got Viv I put her in a harness, when we went to training the teacher only wanted collars,Viv freaked out, so ever since she only wears a harness.
Why fight it? I feel better with a harness anyway...

Mine all just wear harnesses.. I don't see a need for a collar for them. At home they are nekkid.

Mine is nekkid at home also and is harnessed otherwise.
It's a personal choice but I fear collars and the possibility of choking or other injury to much to even want to put one on him.
If he's so upset about the idea , you'll probably need to decide if it's really that important to you that he wear one. If he's okay with a harness and so miserable with the collar idea , I wouldn't worry about the collar.
I always choose to pick my battles wisely since most puggies can be very stubborn , sometimes I think it's best to just leave some things alone.

I might just leave him with the harness and get him a bigger one. Once he got used to the harness we only had him wear it when we went outside and yes, never when he's home alone. Somehow harnesses look like little biker gear to me so my husband and I wanted to try the collar. But I'm ready give up and just stick with the harness. My husband on the other hand is as stubborn as Doug!
