    Default Unwrapping Presents

We're having trouble with Spike stealing presents from under the Christmas tree. At first, he was only stealing the bows, but he has graduated to unwrapping and sharing the gift with Gus, his Golden Retriever buddy, who then devours the gift. Anyone else having trouble with dogs disturbing Holiday decorations and items? This is Spike's first Christmas, and I'm afraid he's teaching 10 year old Gus new bad habits!

Mine inspect them, but so far all is safe!! you might have to put the "food" gifts in stockings.........

Oh yes. Pugsleigh would grab any scented gift and hide them under our bed. One year it was Gloria Jean coffee grounds, one year she got into a South Western chili mix that had individual seasonings in a burlap bag. Thank God she left the beans alone. That year I kept wondering why our bedroom smelled like chili. When our daughters came home, she would go into their suitcase, (that they always left open on the bedroom floor) and grab their undies.

No wrapped gifts are safe on the floor around here. Even the tree is not safe. ROFL! So we have a small tree on a table, and the gifts are up high, out of the reach of thieving pugs.

We have no Christmas decorations in our areas this year...we are living with the folks temporarily...my mother keeps asking if we want a tree, but I know the boys would rip it to shreds...so, no tree for me

No hope for untouched presents here either.
I resorted to putting all the gifts up on the kitchen table just to be on the safe side.

If they didn't steal them, they'd pee on them. So...no presents under the tree until Christmas morning.

Ohio Pug Rescue had a Pug returned last week because "he kept unwrapping the presents".

We haven't had any problems....yet...but my sister had a beagle for quite a few years. The first year they had Ollie, he helped "wrap" the Christmas gifts. Everything under the tree had chewed corners, ripped paper, etc. We had a good laugh that Christmas morning.

Needless to say, they never put gifts out while he was alive. (He's at the Bridge tearing up presents most likely!)

Our cat starts the process - he removes all ribbons, bows and to/from tags. Makes it more of an interesting holiday! Then he knocks them down off the table, and the dogs get into them. And of course, it was the cat's fault! I don't have a tree this year, but the pile on the table has been re-arranged several times. Already. Peg

We put an exercise pen around our tree (Humphrey peed on my mom's tree skirt and tried to take all the ornaments off, as well). We will put the gifts within the pen because our curious puggie just wouldn't leave them alone!
