I am new to this forum and I was not sure if someone could direct me to other threads where people have already posted on this topic. Don’t want to start something new if something already exists….
My issue is this...my Pug is a rescue that I have had since April 2005. I didn’t have a lot of info on him except that he was an owner surrender. He started out with itchy skin, and after going thru several different shampoos and conditioners, we decided to change his food. Natural Choice Lamb Meal & Rice came highly recommended from a person that does rescue work. This has worked great for his skin, the itchiness almost stopped within a week. However, overtime he has become a pooping machine. We take him out before we go to bed, he makes and then we get up in the morning and he had MAKED again all over the kitchen floor. He normally is gated in the kitchen at night or we will let him sleep with us. We have alternated several weeks to see what works for him. It’s been a big headache to clean everyone morning. I have also read where people talk about giving kibble as treats, instead of other treats; what exactly is kibble? Any brands to recommend for this kibble? Are the treats contributing to the pooping? I’ve been using Lamb Meal & Rice Chops and I have also used treats for a sensitive stomach, all are Natural Choice brands. Should I change his dog food again? I don’t want to because I don’t want to see his itchiness return. He was receiving a cup a day of food, now we have reduced 25% of that and he still poops way too much. Another note: my Boston Terrier eats the same food and does not have these pooping episodes and never makes inside. Please HELP!![]()

I am always amazed at how much one little pug can poop. Gidget went 5 times yesterday, because she had been eating bird seed outside. But they were formed stools! So no story of pooping amazes me anymore, if pugs are involved! No advice, just an observation. Peg
we where using nutro too and found out that they pooped constently.our male has skin isues too and we switched to sience diet and started him on coconut oil.
the pooping got better and so did his skin
there are lots of threads on coconut oil just do a surch and lots of info will come up.

Kibble is just refering to dry dog food. Many pugs are so food crazy you can just use pieces of "kibble" as an occasional reward.
Since his skin problems cleared up it probably was some sort of food allergy. What was he eating before? I'd check the ingredients in both and try to narrow down what it could be...many dogs allergic to grains like corn or wheat. Maybe try another food that does not contain those ingredients.... www.naturapet.com lists many foods and their ingredients.

we changed our pups from purina one to the nutra....and had a 250.00 vet bill, it tore there tummies up. one week of shoving medicine down there throats and back to the purina one, and we are good. they go after each meal and thats about it.

You don't have to shove pills down a dog's throat. Use the 'three globs of cheese method' and the pills will be swallowed before your dog knows what happened:
Get some cream cheese - soft cheddar cheese shredded, works, too.
Put three small globs (bigger than the pill, though) on the counter top or plate or cutting board. Hide the pill in the second glob. Hide it thoroughly.
Now, here's where YOU have to be coordinated and quick: Take the first glob (no pill), keeping the second one (with the pill) and third one (no pill) ready to go. Give the first glob, followed almost instantaneously by the second and then the third. If the food in which the pill is hidden is nice and soft and your pug is like most, each glob will be swallowed before anyone (including you and pug) knows what happened. Painless.
It has been noted previously that this also works with spouses.

liquid is what we had to give them.....not pills...and it was very hard to do...each are different and they almost got dehydrated because of the food.

How quickly did you change the food? If you did it all at once and didn't ease into it over a week or two then that is probably what made puggy sick. If you decide to change the food again, make sure you introduce the new food slowly combined with the old food....Good luck...and welcome to the Village!!!!![]()
