Default I am at my wits end!

My Frito has been chewing on things here and there around the house, I chalked it up to puppyhood. And yes I do have bitter apple spray. Today I come home from work and he finally destroyed the carpet on the first step of the staircase, chewed the corner of my oak shoe box in my foyer and the corner of one of the kitchen cabinets. I leave PLENTY of toys out for him and he has Pugweiser & Junior to keep him busy. Any suggestions besides crating him, I really dont want to go that route. HELP!
    Hugs,
Renee, Junior, Frito, Elliot, Squirt & Rocco

    Renee

How old is Frito now? Rollo had a similar problem and nyla bones and rope toys helped. The apple spray helped but you really have to re-apply it alot and you never really know what they will pick to chew on next. If you are not home I would keep him in a confined area with a baby gate or in a small play area. He may get stressed out while you are away and that is how he is showing it??

What about using an X-pen in your kitchen, until he gets over the chewing phase?

He just turned 8 mos old. I thought about the ex pen but I am afraid he may try to jump out of it to get to Pugweiser & Junior and get his leg caught or something bad. I just dont know. My other boys NEVER did this.

Is he still cutting teeth, or all they all in?

Puglseigh was never a chewer like that.
My other girls came to me much older in life.

A crate is not the worse thing in the world,
it keeps them safe while you are at work.
Or put all 3 in the X pen.

Renee--My evil side had a bit of a chuckle to learn that one of the brewery boys was acting up. You've had such a smooth ride for so long I figure your number is up.!!

Now for my good side--sorry that Frito is making you crazy. Are there any forbidden objects that you could sacrifice to him? I finally abandoned a pair of shoes to a puppy years ago so he would stop chewing on my baseboards and chair legs. It worked--he concentrated on the previously verboten shoes and left my baseboards and chair legs alone.

Do you have any cats? It's probably them if you do. Frito comes from such good blood lines, I can't imagine an evil gene snuck in there.

Well, I know you don't like the idea.. but I think I'd crate the little guy while you're away. Miss Emma is a massive chewer and loves to get on counters and tables, so she's crated when we're gone. I offered her treats every time she went in there, so now (she's like 11 months I think.. guessing), if I say 'crate' or she sees us getting our keys, that pug races for that crate, she goes in so fast she bounces off the back. LOL If I'm slow, she'll run out, find me, "uff" at me, and with each "uff" she hops backwards a foot, heading for her crate. She cracks me up. Keep in mind, this is a pug that did not like the crate in the beginning. So if nothing else works for ya, give it a shot.

LOL! Yeah I know I had it very easy with Pugweiser & Junior. I guess I am definately due for some torture. Funny, no matter how bad Frito is I still think about getting another Pug in the future!
