Hi guys,
I´m writing to you because I have an issue. Everytime I have lunch or dinner, the pug wants to eat my food, he scraches me and jump, I´ve tried saying "NO" and pushing him to the floor. I also give him some of my food to make him quiet, but nothing works. Now I have to cage him while I eat, he cries but at least I can have breakfast.
Do you have any advice for me?
Thank you guys!
Pasha,Maria and Nando.

I have spent a lot of time training my dogs to go to their bed (or place)... and then I belly up to the table and do NOT look at them while I eat...
When I stand up from eating, I release them from their bed happily and offer them a walk...
good luck.. it takes patience...

Giving him food from the table to keep him quiet will most DEFINITELY not work! He'll just want more of the good stuff, and if he keeps at you, he may get more!
We can't watch TV with Penny because she barks and barks, so what I do is give her a treat to go into her crate and close the door. Fortunately for her, we only watch a couple hours of TV a week, so it's really not that often.
Maybe you could give your Pug a healthy but delicious treat in its crate, eat your meal, and then let the Pug out!

Lots of good advice above. First and foremost, definitely do not feed him any human food from your plate. This only encourages him to continue the bad behavior.
You might try what I do with my dog, which is to give him a rawhide to chew on before I sit down to eat. Wallace has learned now that when I sit down to the dinner table, he gets to chew on his rawhide quietly by my feet. We never, ever feed him human food from the table, so he's pretty good about not jumping up or barking, but it has still taken time to teach him that when we're eating, we are not available to play with him.
Good luck!

Everything you're doing encourages his bad behavior.
1. You need to COMPLETELY ignore him, regardless of what he does, where he jumps, etc. No talking to him, NOTHING.
2. NO FOOD from your plate. EVER.
3. You might want to give him a stuffed Kong to occupy him....

all advice above is great, I have nothing to add, except that I feel your pain! Although I don't give the girls more than a nibble or two, Suki relentlessly begs! I usually eat at a TV tray on the couch and she will sit right next to me, or if I put her on the floor she'll stand up with her little hand on the TV tray, and if I don't give her a nibble she barks at me! The brat!!!
Of course I totally realize it is ALL my fault that she does this!!
Misty will "beg" but all she does is sit at my feet watching me with wide eyes and trying to suck in her big belly and look starved!!No jumping or crying or barking!
I have started to stand at the counter to eat, because then it's easier to keep them out of my line of sight and they can't reach that! I ignore them the whole time I'm at the counter, so they're getting better!

That is half your problem right there.
When I got Vivian I told everyone who came to my house for dinner never ever to give her any food from the table and completely ignore her, even when were done eating. As long as were sitting at the table she is completely ignored.
It's not to late to do that with him, as hard as it is just stick to it and eventually he will get the hint.
