I am a firm believer in crate training. Mu is only 9 weeks old, so we've been just introducing him to his crate. His crate is set up in an X pen with the door open and plenty of puppy pads and news papers all around. He has already established a pattern of going to the farthest part of the xpen to do "his business" and with me taking him out every two hours or so, we are really decreasing how many times he "goes" inside. During the day when he goes into the crate to rest, I've been closing the door of the crate some, until I hear him up and moving around in there. Last night, I closed the crate door for all night. Hubby was up around 5am and let him out. He had a dry crate! No pees or poops in his crate. He is a VERY smart little puggie!

It is wonderful that your baby seems to enjoy the crate. I crate trained my first puppies who were littermates. They never learned to love their crate and would only go in it when I was leaving or for bedtime. Chyna came to us house trained so she was not used to a crate. Tinker hated his crate the first couple of months and would even potty inside it. He will go inside it now when I am leaving because he knows he gets some treats, but I think I can safely say that he doesn't like it. He never goes inside it to rest during the day when I am home.

I'm so jealous. My pug is 10 weeks old and will still pee and poo in her crate. I get up once at night to take her out but if I don't there's a present waiting for me when I get up. I can't wait for for those nights that she will sleep all night and not go potty in her crate!
