This new update...

Most changes as a result of the upgrade will be subtle. One big change is VB4 uses a totally new theme system which allows pages to load substantially faster than the system PugVilage currently uses. Unfortunately, this new theme system also means the “Pug2” and “default” styles will no longer work once the upgrade is complete, as they are designed for the old theme system.

CoCo will still be there right?! You know change is difficult for some...but that is one thing that can't change.

and do you know how different the new theme will look?!

The new theme won't look very different, we'll try to make it as close as possible!

Thanks for the support Christa:) We're investigating if we can carry the themes over somehow and will do our best, but all-in-all the new update will help improve speed and fix some of the technical issues with this version so it hopefully will be a good change.

I hope this will be a good update, but honestly, I'm pretty skeptical feeling about that.... I don't want PV to change and while I realize that updates are necessary, it seems like every time we go through an update, things get worse for a while! Features stop working (like subscribed thread emails) or people get error pages when trying to view PV. I know they eventually get sorted out, but it's frustrating to have my "PV experience" so interrupted. And I'm totally bummed about losing Pug2 theme so I hope you guys come up with something equally cute and fun. I will miss my happy flowers and pugs theme.
If this update works, will it be the last one PV needs for a long while?? I know I could sure use a break from all the updates. I want to be able to just enjoy PV without any more changes.

I definitely understand your point of view and appreciate the feedback. I think the cause of most of the issues was the fact that we were still learning the in's and outs of PV when we made the first update, we are confident this new version and transition will be smoother.

Also yes:) after this update we will be interruption free for a long while! We were hoping to keep this version for longer, but it is causing a lot of delays and errors that we feel should be fixed.

We'll try to make a theme as fun as possible:)

Being a creature of habit, I dislike change. I also really like the Pug2 theme. It was a nice surprise from Dante.
