    Default tails!!

    Hi guys,

Need a bit of advice with regards to pugs tails!
My black boys tail has suddenly gone a bit bushy and 'big' his top line looks great but his tail is now nearly bigger than his head!
he has a few shows coming up and hes getting handled by someone else so want to make sure he looks good.
Any advice on how to get his tail smaller? Should i use thinning scissers? Im scared to make it look worse! haha.

    Thanks

    Can you post pictures please?

Before you do anything drastic remember he's a puppy and his head hasn't finished growing yet and won't until after he gone 2yrs.

He may just be at a gangly stage where he seems a little out of proportion

Your right I think he's at a ugly duckling stage!!
Spoke to my dog grooming friend who also shows and she said he looks great and I'm being paranoid (nothing unusual there then )
He grown so much the past two months maybe that's why I think he looks different ?!

I always use thinning shears on my pugs tails, before I take them to a show. It makes the tail curl tighter, to get the hair off of it, but you have to know what you are doing so you don't take too much off, and so that it doesn't look like you've done anything, if you know what I mean. It takes practice, and what I would suggest, is to practice on it, when it's not show season, so that it has time to grow out, if you mess it up. Wish I were in Scotland, for many, many reasons, one of which, is, that I could show you how to trim Angus's tail! LOL

I am not at all sure that it is "done" over here. See my comments in Rosiepugs thread about shaving tails.
