Querida- Rey wins 2nd place in the World Dog Show

It's with great pride that I can tell you Deandra Querida-Rey won 4th Prize in the Champion of France on saturday in a very tough line-up against the best dogs in Europe. A warm-up for the bigger competition on Sunday. She out did herself in a stunning class of 25, she won second prize in Junior Bitch in the World Dog Show, Paris.fr. Only beaten by the Tangetoppen dog from Norway, a Kennel who are winning everything this year in Europe, from Crufts to the World Dog Show. This is the first time Querida has been beaten since she started as a 16 weeks old puppy. She has won Best Puppy in breed and Best Junior in breed, in 13 shows, in three different countries. One Best puppy in Show in France. And we don't mind at all being beaten by the World Winner

It was so nerve wrecking, the UK Judge Frank Kane really made us work for it. There were so many cuts made to the line-up and we had to walk around probably 5 or 6 times as he kept cutting back his selection. Everytime I made it through to the next round my heart started racing. In his last pick of 4, I was lying third and he asked us to go around again, I had two Tangetoppen pugs in front of me and the crowd were clapping and cheering in a different ring, there was a lot of noise and Querida loved it and put on a real show. I couldn't believe it when he put me up from third to second and then asked us to go around again. I was hoping he wasn't going to re-arrange us again and put me back to third but by then Querida was in full swing and finally he awarded us the tickets!

Gina, the really big competitions are over for this year. Crufts.uk in March and the World Dog Show in the summer are the biggest on the calendar in this part of the world. The World Show is hosted by a different european country every year. This year was Paris.fr , next year Saltzburg.at. So now it's back to trying to qualify Querida for Crufts 2012. She is 10 months old, so only just old enough to try to qualify. We have 5 opportunities. Rotterdam.nl Lusanne.ch Amsterdam.nl Malta.mt and brussels.be. She would have to win Best Junior to qualify. After that it's all about winning International and National Challenge Certificates to make-up to champion. Querida is still too young do that in europe, she needs to be 15 months old but Pudding is busy collecting those.

Pudding btw was in a Class of 40 and was graded excellent but didn't place.
