    Question Walleyed Pug

Hi - I'm brand new here and to the world of show pugs. I've had pugs for a few years, but just got my first show pug, Angus, a few months ago. He's now 5 months old and we just had our first conformation class yesterday. He did quite well...better than me!

My question is he is somewhat walleyed. He's gotten a little better as he's gotten older and the breeder has thought that as his head filled out the problem would get better. Maybe it will but it's going pretty slow for me.

Can anyone tell me how much this is going to hurt him in the ring? I just want us to have fun.

    Pictures!! We need Pictures!!

What I know about showing would fit on the head of a very small pin, but we have a couple of breeders/showers here who can give you more info. My understanding is that it does sometimes correct as they get older, but I don't know by what age it is a done deal.

In the show-ring a Pug's eyes are meant to be as dark as possible - light eyes are definitely a fault. I am not sure what you mean be "walleyed" - in horses it is a term to describe a light-coloured eye with white - do you mean your puggy's eyes are a bit easty-westy? That should get better as they get older.

Oh, and of course, a warm welcome to the forum!!

Easty-westy is a good term Rona. Wall-eyed, in my world, means the dog's eyes are focused to the sides, in other words the dog's (or person's for that matter) eyes appear to be looking at the walls as they walk.

If a person or dog is cross-eyed (as I am ) you are called "tangle-eyed".

If you never change your mind, how can you be sure you have one?

    Default Thank you!

    I do mean easty-westy.

Let's see...The first one is from when he was about 12 or 13 weeks old and then some more recent ones after that.

My girlie Pandora is in the same boat- the pic on my avatar is at 4 months and now at 5 months she seems to be growing into her eyes.
Her breeder- who is a show person said that often this is the case as they get older. I met both her mom and pop and neither of them are east-westies now that they are full grown...

    She's very pretty and I wouldn't give her eyes a second's thought!

I think his eyes will be O.K., because from the later pictures you posted they don't look too bad at all.
