So don't ever do that, and at least if they don't agree with what I put up, they will at least know I truly put up what I thought was the best.
    that shows you have integrity!!
    great job!

Thank you so much. With being a owner/handler for years, I have been on the receiving end of the political game. I never mind losing to a good dog, but when I feel the judge put up a friend they have a big black mark from me. I judged the sweeps at the Canadian nationals. And in the sweeps were 2 Morpheus kids. That could have been ugly, because I know people were wondering if I would put up one of his get. So I decided to heck with anyone, and if I felt they were better, I would have put them up. As it turns out there was a older puppy there that I felt was better at that time. She went on to go reserve winner's bitch at the nationals under Dr Harry Smith a very respected breeder judge. so I felt really good about that. This weekend I will "hopefully" get to see one of the Morph babies finish her Canadian championship. She is a doll, and needs only 3 pts, earning 7 in a matter of a few shows by 7 months old.

I wish more were like that, and I think a lot of them go into it with the same conviction, but get compromised along the way. Don't ever lose that conviction, even if you don't get the assignments, because of it.

I know, Jodi says everyone starts out saying this. But she does think I will be able to pull it off. The end of the day I have to like the person looking back from the mirror

You've got that right.. Remind me sometime and I'll tell you about what he went through with my former "mentor"... What a headcase she was, and he's still showing Am Cockers while she's vanished, to the great relief of the Cockers, I'm sure... When she went after me, he was the first person to tell her to stuff it.. :)

I drove up that afternoon to do it. Well I was thinking that there wouldn't be many there, it was hot. As it turned out the breeds I judged were Cavaliers, Italian greyhounds, Havanese, Toy fox terriers, papillon and silky terriers. My group was way bigger than the others, many more entries. So I am waiting to start and up comes a judge who I admire very much. He and his partner have a puppy in there. Oh sure no pressure there, with him watching my entire judging. My favorite handler also showed up holding a puppy too. Geez, now I am feeling a tiny bit nervous... As it turned out the judges puppy, didn't have her ears up yet, and her competition was a darling little male owned and shown by a very well know and respected breeder/ handler of cockers. I went over them well, but the bitch puppy just moved better and more correctly, so I put her up over the male. That handler says "Hey, no fair her ears aren't even up! I informed him that for 2 solid days, I boned up on my toy standards, and it is only a DQ, if they are not up by 6 months. She was 5 months. He went back and forth in a teasing matter, arguing with the judge who's puppy won. It was very entertaining. Judge told me I could have gone with either one, and I would have been ok. So it actually went well, and I throughly enjoyed myself going over many really cute little puppies. When it came to best puppy, I went down the line trying to beat this absolutely beautiful 9 month old silky. In the end I put him up for best puppy, and when I left the ring, the judge who I truly respect told me I couldn't have done a better job. I told him thank you, and that he certainly did NOT cause me undue stress watching my every move. ha! He laughed. I watched best in match, and that little Silky won best puppy in match. All and all, I loved it.
Congrats, Carla. I hope you really enjoyed yourself, and hope your dreams of becoming a judge becomes a reality in the near future. You say you don't want to get into a political game of putting friends up, only out of friendship. Well I comment you for saying that and I really hope no one tries to make you feel guilty for feeling that way. You must always put up the dog that deserves it.
Well I wish I could have gone to the B Match, but I'm not going to a show till Puyallup. Well I'll be seeing you at one of the shows when you are done baby sitting your babies. Anne Marie
