Default Ben at class

Do to Ben getting loose at the first show he was in.......I wanted to get him in different places....different dogs....etc.

We went to a confirmation class. Had about 5 big dogs and 5 small ones. He did really well!!! Then, larger dogs started to come in for the next class and some were barking. His tail went half mast when the first one did it, I reached down and patted him...and told him it was okay. We continued to work...he kept his ears UP!!!!

I'm so PROUD of him!

Just remember, Diane........if he is feeling unsure, don't give affection right then. It will reinforce the behavior. He will think you are praising him for being unsure. If he gets a little uncomfortable, ignore that behavior, and then when he snaps out of it, praise him like the devil!

Great, hopefully he will continue to improve around other dogs. When Bella was young, she was afraid of other dogs too, but the more dogs she has been around the better she has gotten. Hope he will out grow it too.

Willie felt the same way about large dogs barking in conf. classes... He'd stand right behind a Golden and not mind at all that its tail was hitting him in the face but, let a big dog start that deep barking and his tail would drop like a rock. He got over it pretty easily though with a little reassurance..

Good work Ben and Diane.

At the weekend show, Puddi was subject to many big dogs barking too and she wasn't sure but I kept her practising and rewarding her. She's a bit borderline. I'm sure with careful handling they'll both gain confidence.

Good job Ben! I'm sure with more exposure to big dogs barking, his confidence and ease around them will grow.
